June was a busy month for us. After we got back from our Walt Disney World trip at the end of May (more to come about that in a few weeks) we basically had a week or so to pack up and move across the country! Of course, we still made some time for some fun things as well in between all the packing and work. 🙂

The weekend right before we moved we held a yard sale at my in-laws (since you can’t really do one in an apartment complex) and after the yard sale we used up some AMC tickets we had by going to see Maleficent.  Of course, Ti didn’t want a picture in front of that movie poster. He wanted one in front of the Spider-Man 2 poster. 🙂 (Which reminds me, we still have not seen that yet? Worth seeing??? Or skip?)

Another fun outing was when the boys had some father/son time and went to Dick’s Sporting Goods to get Titan a glove, baseball bat and ball so that they could start practicing for T-Ball season here in Pennsylvania. On the way home apparently they decided that father/son time wouldn’t be complete without some root beer floats as well.

And of course, when Titan had us research Panda Express locations in PA (this was a very real and legitimate concern of Titan’s about the move) and we found out the nearest location was going to be about an hour away, we had to make sure to fit in a Panda Express visit…or two!

Pretty sure this little man would eat Panda Express all day, every day if we would let him!

At the end of each night. I got to make time to put my feet up to help reduce the swelling in my feet and legs. (Gotta love pregnancy cankles!)
Here I was resting and Broc was explaining to Titan the different cycles of the moon after Titan noticed the moon on our drive to McDonald’s to get some sundaes.

This is later in the month when Ti was getting ready and I realized I may have passed some of my control freak and “perfectionist” ways onto our son. 🙂
Someone is a little picky about his hair…

“What Mom? I’m just trying to get it to look JUST right.”

…and MOVING DAY!!!

We were so lucky to have some AWESOME helpers when it came time to load up the truck. Broc’s
parents came to help (they also helped us drive everything out to PA) and we also have some helpers from our ward. They helped load everything into the truck and some even stayed behind to help clean the last few things.

All in all, we were surprised at how fast it all went. By the time everything was done we were on the road and grabbing lunch by 3:30.

For the drive out to Pennsylvania we had the U-Haul tow Broc’s truck and then we took turns with Broc’s parents driving my car and the U-Haul.

Goodbye Stetson Hills! Time for our 3 1/2 day cross-country road trip!

Chick-Fil-A ended up being our last lunch in Colorado. (Another restaurant that is an hour or so away now.) I kind of liked their product packaging. 🙂 I had never noticed all those helpful hints on their bags before.

Our first night on the road we ate at a Wendy’s by our hotel and it had this huge map in it. It was fun to be able to show Titan the route we were taking, the states we were planning on going through, etc.
The drive took us about 3 1/2 days and we drove through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio before arriving in Pennsylvania.

Of course, we also got to use a paper map as well during the road trip. I honestly didn’t even know you could still get maps like this at rest stops anymore. Glad we had it though because my ever so frugal husband decided to avoid a toll road and take some side streets in Kansas and my phone/GPS wasn’t getting the best reception at the time.

At one point Broc asked me if I even knew how to read a map. LOL. I do know how to read a map, but I’ll admit, when you haven’t had to read one in probably twenty years…it takes some getting used to again! 🙂 PS: So thankful for GPS now! When it’s working it makes things SO much easier.

Swimming at our hotel.
I am really glad that I thought in advance to keep out swimsuits for us to take in our suitcases. Titan LOVED being able to swim at the hotel pool after being in the car all day.

Road trip snacks! Pretty sure I grabbed one of these at almost every gas station we stopped at. Love peanut butter cookies.
(Looking back, I should have bought snacks like this in advance as it would have been much cheaper. When your moving across at the country at 36-37 weeks pregnant though…you’re just happy you’re surviving the move.) 😉

We at at The Hickory House in Ohio and it was one of my most favorite meals of the trip. It was nice to eat somewhere that wasn’t fast food. The rest of the trip it was a lot of Wendy’s, Steak & Shake, etc.

When we first got to our house on the third day we had to meet with our leasing agent to sign some papers and then we decided to go for a walk up Main Street to get some drinks. Titan was so excited we found a “Diet Coke” place… and then Broc realized he didn’t have his wallet with him. Oops!

It was a good thing we headed back home though because when we got there we had a huge crowd of people waiting to help us move in. (We thought people were meeting us at 6:00 but apparently they had all been told 5:30.)

I’ll admit, when moving some place, the kitchen is never my top priority. I figure we can always eat out until that gets done. And, so eat out we did for a day or two after.
The day we moved in Ti kept asking to go get a Happy Meal and we kept putting it off. Finally the next day we made sure to find a McDonald’s for him. I was happy to learn that McFlurries now come in snack size! When did that become an option?!? Made my day!

Trying to keep Titan’s life as “normal” as possible (as normal as it can be moving across the country) we made sure to have some activities for him the very first week we got into town.
The day after we moved in his T-Ball started up and the first Saturday we went to a Lowe’s Build & Grow event where Titan got to make a dragon from How to Train Your Dragon 2. (Another movie we still need to see! We just have not had the time this summer for movies like we normally do.) Loves these free activities at Lowe’s. We’ve been going to them for over a year now and they never get old.

Another thing we did the first week we were in PA was get our library cards set up at the library and attending the library’s Summer Reading Carnival.
I seriously love the library and hope to instill the same love in Titan.

Titan had lots of fun at the carnival participating in the games…

Building a paper rocket to launch…

…and helping with the balloon tent activity.

I think his favorite activity is building things inside with all the huge foam blocks though. He’d stay and do this for hours every time we go if I’d let him.

Of course, we also had fun at home as well!
I remember playing with a set like this when I was a kid and so when I saw a deal on this marble maze I snatched it up for Titan. Love toys that require some thought, planning and imagination.

We also love our board games! While we were unpacking Titan found our bin of games that’s been in storage and immediately wanted to play Monopoly and Life with us.

And we can’t forget the outdoor fun.
Titan practicing his batting before a T-Ball game. Love watching these two together!

Hitting up the Comic Book store a couple towns over for free RPG Day. Broc got his free Pathfiner module and Titan was able to pick up a Sonic comic book.

Love these two nerds! 😉

Titan spent the entire drive home pouring over the pictures in his new book. I was afraid he would look at it once and get bored with it but I should have known that wouldn’t be the case. Someone is a die hard Sonic fan!

On our way home from the Comic Book store we decided to do some furniture shopping. We’d been to a few stores earlier in the week and didn’t really see anything that worked for us. A co-worker of Broc’s recommended Wolfe’s Furniture though and so when we saw a location we decided to stop in real quick.
So glad we did! We ended up getting a CRAZY deal on a new table for our living room and an awesome deal on a recliner as well.
And, no. We didn’t get the outdoor chaise pictured above. Titan just liked “testing” out any chair he came across. 🙂

And here we are at the Residents Dinner for Broc’s work. Each year Broc’s boss hosts a Welcome BBQ at his home for all the new residents. Titan LOVED their swimming pool and hot tub.

…and I loved the view! Pennsylvania is SO green and actually really pretty!

We also made some time for some games as well!

Another fun activity in June was Elementary Club at the library. It’s a group that meets once a week for an hour to do various educational projects and activities. The first week the theme was space and so Titan got to do a writing prompt to submit to the local newspaper…

…and make a rocket launcher!

Last but not least,  Broc and I got to dress up for the Resident’s Graduation Dinner. (Here Broc is with all of the First Year Residents – a truly awesome group of doctors!)

…and the next day Broc and Titan got to attend Sci-Fi Valley Con with some friends from Broc’s work before we were off to attend a church BBQ.
Funny story, Titan almost didn’t want to go to Valley Con because he didn’t have a costume for the event. (I guess he heard Broc saying people dress up.) Luckily we found a Star Wars shirt from our Disney World trip and his laser gun he got at Disneyland the last time we were there. That constitutes a costume, right?! (Luckily it did in Titan’s mind!)
…and that is our June. I can’t believe we fit all of that into one month. I promise our future months will be a lot shorter. We’ve been sticking closer to home now that baby girl is here!
Speaking of which, up next will be our baby girl’s Birth Story and everything else pregnancy related. 🙂 So if you want to get those update…stay tuned! It’s coming…eventually! 😉 Still adjusting around here to life with a newborn. 🙂
