i’m nannying for a family this week, well for about 8 days to be exact, while the parents are on a trip and due to the overwhelming amount of times i’ve been asked “can you handle that many kids?” (there are only 2!) or “if you need ANYTHING, just let me know.” (with a very worried look) or even “feel free to call if you need an out or can’t handle it”. i figured a post might be needed. thought it might help ease peoples uncertainty about me with kids and help spread the word that this is not my first time at the circus. i have nannied before (not to mention, i do have my own child, which makes the questions even more weird to me…)

i have nannied two kids, i have nannied four or five kids. i have nannied all ages, 6 weeks to 16 years, to be exact. i have been a nanny full-time and i have nannied while the parents are away on trips. i have even gone on trips with families multiple times. for a while i even nannied 3 under 3 full-time.this is not my first time watching someone else’s kids for a long period of time and nor am i a naive 16 year old who doesn’t know what i’m getting into. believe me, if i couldn’t handle it, i wouldn’t be offering! 🙂

i have spent so much time nannying i honestly can probably say the number is in the thousands of hours. i have even potty trained someone else’s kid for heaven’s sake! i have also been chased with a knife by a young boy who within a couple weeks of me not giving up on him became one of my best bff’s (he just needed to test me out…), there was also the the little girl that i nannied where there were three passwords/security systems to get into the house, a private jet, a passport required and even code names and fake iteneraries! not kidding!

so trust me when i say i can handle two super sweet and adorable little girls for 8 days! although i do appeciate you all thinking i have such a young and innocent vibe! 🙂  even though i may appear to not like children, i actually really do and so far my track record is pretty darn good at keeping all the children i’ve watched happy, healthy & whole! (i have references if you need them!)

in fact, if i seem annoyed with a child, you are probably mistaking me for being annoyed with you. my belief is there really aren’t any bad kids, just lazy or uneducated parenting. a belief that sometimes comes back to bite me when i look at my own child acting out or testing his limits… 🙂

…and now with that said, i am in no way saying i’m a perfect parent or the next jo from supernanny. i’m just saying please don’t look so shocked when i say i’m nannying for 8 days! i do indeed like children and have always planned on having at least 6 children, i’m rather good with children in fact! so yes i think i can manage two extra little girls, and actually i love doing it because it’s good practice (that i’m being paid for, can’t get better than that!).

ps. if you made it this far, thanks for reading, just had to get this all out there! 🙂

Good to know you can handle multiple children of all ages. The Fed Ex man is on his way :). Bean only has a few special requests.
