over the weekend broc and i were able to go out to dinner and attend a fireside put on by our church (it was the adult session of stake conference).
for dinner we went to bucca di beppo & it was the first time for both of us. must admit, it is definitely a new favorite of ours. we loved everything we ordered and the fun, family friendly atmosphere of the restaurant was a perk as well. of course, what made the dinner even better was we purchased our $20 gift card through city deals for only $10 and we also had a coupon for $10 off of a $20 meal. hip hip hooray for date night on a budget! if you happen to go to for yourself, make sure to try their cheesy bread on special right now and get the brownie sundae for dessert!!! 🙂
now while that was all fun and exciting (i always love trying new restaurants!) the best part of the night was listening to a talk on marriage at the fireside. it was the type of talk you find yourself frantically scribbling notes during, except i didn’t have a notebook handy so i grabbed broc’s cell phone and texted myself memo’s frantically! here are the notes i wanted to remember:
for a strong marriage remember the following eight things:
1. put your spouse on a pedestal and always keep them there.
2. let negative thoughts die in your brain.
3. make your primary concern be the happiness and comfort of your spouse.
4. manage your expectations.
5. everything you need to learn to make it to the celestial kingdom can be learned at home.
6. pray together every day and be open to suggestions from your spouse.
7. have regular date nights.
8. keep your marriage founded upon the teachings of christ.
how awesome is that list? i wanted to get it written up and posted before i accidentally deleted the texts! i’ll write more in depth about each item in later posts, but for now just want you all to have it so you can see if there are ones you could be doing or working on in your own marriage. it’s definitely given me some new insights and goals for my own. 🙂
here’s to stronger and better marriages!
Those are great tips!
Hilary, thank you for always popping in to comment here and there! I love knowing that people are reading!!! 🙂 I REALLY appreciate it!!!
