Sounds of Christmas | My Favorite Christmas Albums

I love christmas music. In fact, my own personal philosophy is that Christmas music can be played in any month ending in “ber” since “ber” sounds like “burr” and “burr” makes you think of snow & cold and therefore, Christmas! Very sound logic I know. 😉 (You now have a smidgen of insight into my thought process on a daily basis.)

For today’s post, I’ve compiled a list of my all time favorite Christmas albums for you. This is by no means an all inclusive list, but it does hit, I believe, the majority of my Top 10. I’ve also included the link to each album on Amazon so you can easily check them out and add them to your own music library. (I’m sure these can also be purchased on iTunes if that is your preference. Happy listening!)

Shedaisy “Brand New Year”: You can’t go wrong with this album (or this group) in my opinion.
Probably my most favorite christmas album ever! I listen to it on repeat ALL the time.

Il Divo “The Christmas Collection”: Another group you can’t go wrong with. In fact, I think all of these groups are ones you can’t go wrong with whether it’s their normal songs or their holidays songs. Il Divo, what more can I say? They are incredible!
PS: If you ever get the chance to see them in concert, do it! Do not pass it up. I saw them a number of years ago and it is still to this day one of my most favorite concerts EVER!

Jackie Evancho “O Holy Night”: This is a new addition to my Christmas collection this year and holy cow! She is ah-mazing. I can’t believe that voice comes from someone so young and I am so glad I added her music to my collection.

Josh Groban “Noel”: Who doesn’t love Josh Groban? And couldn’t use a little more of him in their life?
Rascal Flatts “Unwrapped”: I’m sure this has also been out for a while, but i just purchased it this year and love every song on it. For any country fans out there, you’ll love this one!

Faith Hill “Joy to the World”: My favorite song on this album is “A Baby Changes Everything”. Although, I can listen to Faith Hill’s voice all day long, so this one is always on at our house.

…and last but not least, I’ve included a YouTube video of quite possibly my all time favorite Christmas  song ever, “Breathe of Heaven”. Back when I was going to school at BYU-Idaho I taught a church lesson on the importance of woman & motherhood and since it fell on a Sunday near the holidays I included this song in the lesson. I’m sure hardly anyone but me remembers the lesson at all, but it is one lesson i will never forget teaching. It was one of those lessons where I’m sure I learned far more than those I taught and the impressions and feelings I received as part of my studies on the importance of motherhood, I’ll keep me with me always. I have never felt the spirit so strong as i did in preparation for and in teaching that lesson. I’ve quoted it before and i’ll quote it again, “No success can compensate for failure in the home!” & no one can replace a virtuous, loving, nurturing mother who knows who she is as a daughter of God and who teaches her children the Gospel on a daily basis within the walls of the home.

As woman & mothers, I think it’s important to keep our focus on what’s most important this time of year because that is what our children will learn to focus on as they grow up and follow our example. We may not think they are noticing and learning from us, but they are. They will notice where our focus is and what we deem important.

So, I hope we can all remember why we are celebrating this Christmas season and keep Christ at the center of it.

What are you favorite Christmas songs or albums? Please let me know in the comments! I am always looking for new artists or songs to add to our collection!
