something happened yesterday that was just too funny/coincidental not to write down. broc and i were running errands and having a conversation about money. i said something to the effect of he’s never going to have any substantial amount of money if he keeps having such a negative attitude about it and keeps stressing out over it all the time and having a “lack mentality”. he’ll keep pushing money away.

his response was “the universe is not going to keep sending money just to support your shopping. it doesn’t work that way. money just doesn’t work that way. just because you think happy thoughts about money, doesn’t mean money will suddenly appear out of nowhere.”

at this point in the conversation we decided “to each their own” and went on with our day. then at about 9:30 last night we took a walk to the mailbox (that’s the one thing i dislike about here, your mailbox isn’t right in front of you house) and picked up our mail.

…and lo and behold, what was in the mail? a reimbursement check from my health insurance, totally out of the blue! i’m still not quite sure what it’s for other than it’s an adjustment of premiums or something, all i know is money came out of nowhere and from a totally unexpected source written out to me, not to broc. 🙂

not going to lie, when i opened the envelope and found the check i did say to broc, “look a check…written to me! and you say the universe doesn’t support my shopping and that money doesn’t appear out of nowhere!”.  to which he didn’t have much to say.

now you can take away what you will from this little story. some will say it was just a coincidence, some will say the two weren’t connected at all, some will still agree with broc. i like to believe that happy positive thoughts, bring happy positive things to us and prefer to believe in an abundance mentality. besides, what can it hurt to think a little more positively? i am advocating someone quit their job and then sit around thinking happy thoughts and expect that to pay the bills? no. i do think though that there is something to the saying “what you think about, you bring about.”

i leave you with this quote i read on a friend’s facebook page:

“when you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. this is when the magic begins.” ~ deepak chopra
