fabulous for less – give and get edition

i think fabulessly frugal fashion may just become fabulous for less. mostly because i’m finding more topics than just clothes that could fall into this category each friday.

for instance, did you all go out the day after halloween to score some pretty sweet deals?! i did and man, oh man, i found some good things. some things i’m pretty excited about. today may actually end up becoming a two part installment, that is if i can get all my photo’s taken. part 1: all about giving & getting, a sale you can take advantage of right now! part 2: all about halloween sales. if i can’t caught up on my photo’s today, you’ll get installment two with my halloween purchases later this weekend.

first up, i am really excited about a sale that is going on this weekend. it’s gap’s give and get sale and i always love this sale. basically if you take the coupon into any gap, old navy or banana republic between now and sunday you get 30% off your entire purchase and 5% of your total is donated to charity or a foundation. i used the coupon posted on freebies2deals by melea and so my 5% went to support the leukemia and lymphoma society.  the best part about this sale is that you can also use the coupon at the outlets! that means if you have outlets near you, you can score some pretty great deals.

so my tip this week is: sign up for sale or special email alerts to all your favorite stores so you can be notified when promo’s like this come up. i actually have a separate email account set up specifically for retail and deal emails. that way my personal account isn’t bombarded. it’s win win all around. well, other than my husband asking me how many email accounts one person actually needs?! lol

i actually made a trip to the outlets after work yesterday to try to the beat the weekend rush (and have a better selection), and this is what i was able to find for the little man at the gap kids outlet. under each individual item’s picture i’ve posted the full outlet price, the on sale outlet price & the final price after the 30%.

i love this jacket!

original outlet price: $14.99
sale price: $7.99
price after 30%: $5.59

this shirt was a little more pricey, meaning it wasn’t on the clearance rack like the other items, but i loved it and i caved.
original outlet price: $14.99
price after 30%: $8.40

original outlet price: $14.99
sale price: $4.97
price after 30%: $3.48

original outlet price: $9.99

price after 30%: $3.49

breakdown:

full price total: $77.95
vs.
my total: $27.24

total savings: $50.71

plus, if you take in account that had i bought similar items at an actual gap instead of the gap outlet they would have been even more to begin with, the savings is pretty dang awesome! you can see why i love the outlets for places like gap, ann taylor & banana republic. especially when i have a coupon.
i think gap’s clothes for kid’s are ah-dorable and i definitely have a weak spot for their clothes when it comes to the mini man, but there is a no way right now i could drop almost $78 on a few shirts for my little man. $27.50 though? i can totally rationalize. plus, now you can probably see now why i won’t spend $6 on a shirt from walmart. why spend that at walmart when you can get something from gap kid’s for $3.50? as you shop around more, you’ll start to learn what you are and aren’t willing to pay for certain items and what is and isn’t a good deal at each store. where i think these prices are phenomenal for gap kid’s there is no way i’d pay them at walmart.
a couple things to remember as you are shopping: you can use the same coupon over and over all weekend long so you only need to print one & remember now is the time to be thinking about next year and your kid’s clothes. if they don’t have this year’s size on sale, look for next years! that jacket that i love i actually bought in a 3T so it will fit ti next year & same with the moose shirt.
happy shopping this weekend!
