hi friends! i’m back from my hiatus. it definitely was beneficial to take a break from the computer for a few days. i am now refreshed and recharged (even at 5:30 in the morning, which is when i am typing this). i must admit, ’twas tempting to jump on for a quick post here or there but i held strong and took a “real” break! i enjoy blogging, what can i say? i enjoy time with my boys even more though, and so you will have to excuse my absence. all five of you that read this blog! 😉
it’s monday morning and i feel like i’m at the start of what’s going to be quite the roller coaster ride. you know when the ride operator goes through the check list, “hands in the car, seat belt fastened, safety latch locked. all right. all systems… GO!” and you’re off. i feel like that’s where i’m at.
the weekend was a whirl wind of events. i spent most of friday afternoon and saturday running errands and tracking down the last few items broc needed for officer training. try finding a shoe shine kit (with kiwi black parade polish), a plain simple all black backpack, and an eye glass strap. a treasure hunt it was! minus the treasure map. eight stores in, i believe i/we had located it all. phew! (broc did come along for a few of the stores).
saturday evening we enjoyed dinner at red robin and time with the little man. sunday was spent relaxing, taking naps, catching up on some of our favorite shows, and packing broc’s suitcases. it was a very chill day. i love chill days.
then this morning came, bright and early! broc’s flight out leaves at 6:00 this morning so we were off to the airport at 4:15 am. i asked if the military thinks about the poor wife who has to drive the officer to the airport at said time, broc’s response was “i doubt they care”. i’m pretty sure he’s right.
yes, our life in the military has begun. for the next thirty days broc will be immersed in all things military. four thirty wake up calls, daily physical training, classes on carrying firearms and on leadership, oh, and classes on protocol like you can only carry your umbrella on in your left hand, so you can salute with your right (who knew!). “yes sir, no sir”. he’ll be beat down and brought back up, i’m sure.
meanwhile, here at home, things will continue as normal. we’ll be keeping to a marching schedule all of our own. can you guess who’ll be dictating it? yes, the little man is in charge around here. no question about that. his big personality shines through more and more every day.
well, i’m off to begin my monday! hands in, seatbelt fastened, all systems….go!
