found this . so enjoy that little thought. how simple a perfect day really is.

have been reading simple abundance by sarah ban breathnach. it has something for all 365 days of the year. each one is a treat. a treat i savor every last morsel of. the reading for today, valentine’s day, was no exception.

today i expected a long note on love. on companionship. on everything to do with this holiday. instead, was pleasantly surprised to find it was about discovering our buried dreams. about remembering how once upon a time we were going to set the world on fire but…

“over the years we’ve buried many a precious dream under layers of soot and rubble. layers of naivete, good intentions, relinquishment, bitter failures, detours, disappointments, rejections, wrong choices, bad timing, bungled efforts, stupid mistakes, unforeseen circumstances, whims of fate and missed opportunities”

she encourages us not to be a “would-be-if-i-could-be or could-be-if-i-would-be.” but rather just to be. period. she says “today is a day for being.”

just be and you will remember your dreams.

be with your dreams. enjoy your dreams. then work towards fulfilling those dreams. i believe it is our dreams that ignite our lives with passion and energy. it is our dreams that fuel us forward. so many of us though forget our dreams or put them aside for more practical things (i raise my hand here).

i had dreams once upon a time. i had plans. i had ideas – but somewhere along the line they did get lost in the soot and rubble. in the mistakes, detours, and whims of fate. it’s time for me to grab my shovel and start digging my dreams back out.

ps: it’s a pink shovel, as is my hard hat! after all, things can be downright dirty and even ugly at times. this is truly a hard hat area. you will need that hard hat to ward off the negativity, comments, and opinions of others as you go after your dreams.

happy digging!
