batty for treats

i have a confession, i have three requirements that must be met before i’ll take any child of mine trick or treating, they are:

1. they must be able to walk
2. they must be able to carry their own treat bucket and
3. they must actually be able to say “trick or treat”.

…i know, i’m so evil. i just don’t see a point in going trick or treating with anyone who does not meet those requirements, no matter how cute they are in their little overpriced costume. the little man’s “1st” halloween was technically last year, but i don’t count it because there was no trick or treating (gasp!). we did buy him a comfy sweat outfit with a skeleton on the front (that was 50% off, otherwise we wouldn’t have dressed him up at all) and we did go to a u of u football game, but we didn’t take him trick or treating or get him any candy. in my opinion, any parent who takes their one year old trick or treating is simply out to get their own candy fix, and i figure i can buy my own candy.

little man’s sort of “1st” halloween

so, in a way i count this year as the little man’s “1st” halloween, as it is the first year he’ll meet all three requirements.

we will be trick or treating on the saturday before halloween with him at an event put on by the community. of course this means the little man will need his very own treat bucket! i have been on the hunt for one for a couple weeks now, but didn’t see anything i liked (or that looked like it would last more than one year) until i came across these via a link on freebies2deals:
