at church yesterday the following story was told:
one evening an old cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. he said, “my son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all.
one is evil. it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
the other is good. it is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. “
the grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “which wolf wins?”
the old cherokee simply replied, “the one you feed.”
my questions for us all as we begin this new week, is which wolf are we feeding? what are we giving our time and attention to? what are we creating and surrounding ourselves with.
just yesterday i had the evil wolf come out in me on the way home from church and i had to stop and back track during a conversation with my husband. what happened is, i automatically jumped to a conclusion and come to find out, surprise surprise, my assumption was 100% wrong. you would think i would get the lesson. that i would get that assuming anything makes an “a** out of u and me” but no. i had my filters on and totally thought i already knew what was going to happen.
it made me stop and think, do i view the world from a place and expectancy of peace, love and hope? or do i always automatically assume the worst and jump on the attack. i am trying to redirect my assumptions to be positive ones. i’ve seen all too well what happens when the worst is assumed and it turns out to be totally 100% incorrect.
this week i am looking at the filters/beliefs i view my life through. i have a few that i know of that i need to work on and am searching for others because until i fix some of these perceptions i view my life through, i’ll probably always instantly jump to the worst conclusion. it’s just the way we as humans are. it’s simply easier to believe the worst and to jump to conclusions or to stay in the same belief pattern over and over and over again.
the fabulous thing is, we can change our filters at any moment. at any moment we can choose to view the world or people around us differently. all we have to do is challenge our thoughts and redirect them. it truly is a matter of choice. in all things, conversations, attitudes, etc. we have a choice.
we can choose to be happy and positive and to manifest that in our lives, or we can choose to be negative, grumpy and critical of all things. it all just depends on which attitude we cultivate and feed.
my goal this week is to feed the wolf of good. the wolf of joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
happy monday everyone!

Love that, it's our responsibility because we're the ones feeding it.

Good stuff! Esp. when it comes to husbands, and their mis-spoken-ill-begotten-communication barriers. 🙂
