lake powell
(photo’s from our trip last summer ~ 2009)

we got back from our bear lake trip and were supposed to be leaving for lake powell just two days after but when we got looking at the timing and everything we needed to get done before moving day, we decided to skip the trip. it would have left us with VERY little time to get everything done that we needed to, and although i hate skipping a trip, it needed to be done. we went back and forth on the decision for a good 48 hours both of us thinking the other one really wanted to go on the trip and both of us trying to figure out how we could do both.

truthfully, we could have gone and also gotten everything done, but it would have been ridiculously stressful and i was just not looking forward to that, not even for a trip to powell. so once we both realized that the other would rather stay home as well, the decision was made. it really was the best decision. we were able to spend more time with family and friends and were able to get things done without TONS of stress. there was some stress (it’s a move after all!) but not as much as we would have had going on the trip.

besides it’s not like we can really complain about missing a trip. we have been very blessed in the travel department since we’ve been married. i can’t even count the number of trips we’ve been on. skipping the trip was a good lesson on buckling down when needed, in order to get the work done & on procrastination. had we not procrastinated, time would not have been an issue, but since we are both last minute junkies, it was what it was. rather than fight it, we decided to embrace it and plan for it. yes, you read that right, we planned for our procrastination!

while we were home we were able to go out to dinner with my whole family at one of my favorite mexican restaurants, attend my niece and nephew’s birthday party, grab dinner at cafe rio with some friends, do some shopping in park city, & spend some quality time at our favorite pool! all well worth skipping powell for!

now for some more photo’s. these are from our family dinner at guadalehonkey’s the wednesday we got home from bear lake:
