one of the classes i attended at the casual bloggers conference focused on the importance of finding a niche for your blog. whether it be health and fitness, food, organization, crafts, etc.”make sure you find a niche” was this class’s message. i sat during the class trying to figure out what “niche” my blog fits into, and decided it doesn’t really fit into any specific category, and i really don’t want it to.
this blog is about my life and, i don’t know about all of you, but my life doesn’t fit all nice and tidy into one little box. sure, i could just choose one area to focus on and leave out all the rest, but this blog is about living life and all that encompasses – not just one area of life. i don’t believe you can live an inspired life unless all areas of your life are working together and complimenting each other. i also don’t believe you can do just one thing and poof “inspiration” is streaming and appearing out of no where (if i am wrong, and you have found that one thing…do share!). in order for us to be living inspired lives our mental, physical, and spiritual parts all must align. all the pieces of the puzzle must fit and be present and accounted for.
now you might be asking, what is so important about living an inspired life? why live to be inspired? well, the way i see it, when we come to crossroads and need to make a decision, when we need to know whether or not to take a new job, or have another child, or whether or not a doctor’s diagnoses is correct, or even just how to handle a screaming toddler in the store, yes we can base a decision solely on the facts but really how often do all the facts line up and we still don’t know what to do? this is where inspiration comes in.
inspiration, a prompting, a still small voice, a gut feeling, woman’s intuition, a karmic sense, whatever you would like to call it. we all have the capability to be divinely led or inspired in our lives but we have to be living so that it can be present. i know when i wake up late, don’t get ready, feed myself junk, forget to exercise, decide my bathroom can wait another day to be cleaned, get a case of road rage, and am really impatient with my almost two year old – i am not living an inspired life, nor am i living so that i can hear my “gut”. my gut could be screaming at me and i wouldn’t hear it because i’m too busy complaining, rushing around, and being cranky with the world.
on the other hand when i wake up early, get my yoga or cardio in, eat a healthy breakfast, take some time for prayer and mediation, spend time playing with my little man, plan ahead & clean my house. i feel calm, peaceful, and happy throughout the day. i can pause and really focus on the moment and make decisions that are truly based on my best interest and my families best interest, rather than making a snap judgement i later regret. this to me is living to be inspired, and out of inspiration comes beauty and magic.
am i perfect at this yet? not even close! thus this blog. this blog is about my journey towards becoming a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and woman, and hopefully as i go on this journey, others will join me and we can all be a whole lot happier and inspired in our lives. imagine the impact that would have on our family’s? the impact would be huge. first though, we need to overcome the hurdle’s standing in our way of being happy and inspired. do we need to move more, meditate more, organize more, give our bodies better fuel, pack less into our days, so yes to less commitments? the answers are there for us if we just pause and listen to our authentic self by looking within. one of my favorite quotes is:
“do you know that within your power lies every step you ever dreamed of stepping and within your power lies every joy you ever dreamed of seeing? within yourself lies everything you ever dreamed of being. become everything that God wants you to be. it is within your reach. dare to grow into your dreams and claim this as your motto: let it be me.” ~ mary kay
yes, it may seem like trying to climb a mountain at times, but it’s doable one step at a time. an inspired life is possible but first you have to live to be inspired!
so no, my blog does not have a niche, my blog is what it is. it’s a crazy mess of everything, but that’s what life is. life is a crazy, chaotic mess and we are here to learn to create something beautiful out of that mess. simple as that. hopefully over time, something beautiful will come out of this blog and all it’s chaos, who knows. doesn’t really matter though, because it is what it is and it’s perfect according to me! love this blog or hate it, it’s an expression of me and who i am, who i am trying to be, and who i will become.
i hope whether you’re a new reader or an old friend, you will continue along with me, even though i don’t have a niche!
