~ the bride to be and the lucky man she has agreed to marry ~
let me begin by saying i am so so so excited to finally be able to share the details of this shower with you all. every time i cooked up a recipe or got creative, i wanted to post and share so desperately (yes, i’m addicted to blogging, so what!). i didn’t think it would be fair though for you all to see it before the bride to be, so i waited and practiced my patience.
this bridal shower was for my cute sister-in-law brooke. when i first heard she was engaged i pounced on the chance to be the one to organize her shower. especially since i knew she would be easy going and not all “bridezilla ish”. you know the bride’s i’m talking about. the ones who micromanage every last detail and their claws come out if you don’t have everything in just the exact shade of pink to match the swatch she selected from a random small image about the size of a dime that is nearly impossible to find or match, but she swears she will absolutely die if it isn’t found! yes, brooke is the total opposite of those brides. so adorable, so appreciative, so darling. a very refreshing bride to say the least!
so for the last two months or so my mind has been furiously plotting what i wanted to do for her shower. i had visions of cafe rio pork salad taste a likes, custom tropical floral arrangements, a chandelier hanging over the buffet dripping in faux crystals and flowers, a candy station, a gazillion pom poms, refreshing cucumber limeade as the main drink, and so much more.
the sky always seems to be the limit when i first begin to plan. of course, then the reality of my bank account hits and i’m brought back down rather quickly. dang money! it’s always stunting my creativity. all well. am learning to set priorities and boundaries and to make do with what i have while at the same time plotting how i can do what i love, which is plan events like this AND make money doing it. that really would be win win because currently my lack of money source is the only thing stopping me from literally hanging that chandelier at my next event.
so no, there was no chandelier at this soiree, but there was some pretty fun stuff. coming up beginning monday:
- a scrumptious chicken salad croissant recipe & an oh so yummy pork recipe. will explain in the post why the two different recipes.
- things not to do when planning a bridal shower: tips & tricks
- my bridal shower 2010 playlist
- a lesson on wishes
- and last but definitely not least: the decor! (always my favorite part)
