“Either way it goes to waste. It either goes to your waist, or to waste in the garbage.
I prefer to waste in the garbage”
(Laura)

I was talking with a few friends this week about leftovers, throwing things out, etc. All of us in the group were admitted “throw away-ers!”. What I mean by that is we do not feel the urge to save every last bite or every last ounce of something. We are also not of the belief that you have to eat the last few bites if you just don’t want to just so something doesn’t go to waste.

I mean think about it, why do most new mom’s gain weight the first few years? One of the reasons is because they are always finishing their kids food…heaven forbid a morsel of food be thrown away. Or, they have sometimes have children with weight issues/food issues because they make the children finish the food even when they are already full. (Side note: Ever notice how there are people who can’t stand to see something go to waste, yet they are usually trying to pawn it off on someone else?  As in “Any one want to drink the last few sips of milk? So & So I’m sure you do…” I always find this so funny because why ask someone to finish or eat something you don’t want to? Just one of those funny behavior quirks people have.)

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not an advocate of dishing yourself up an entire plate of food and then throwing 90% off it away – I do realize there there are people starving in the world and that is very wasteful. I’m talking about the serious need some people have to scrape every last miniscule morsel out of everything from the the last of the ketchup to the last bite of left over spaghetti. (I’m not a leftovers person either – can you tell?)

This is why when my friend Laura said the quote above, I absolutely loved it! Sometimes it’s ok to let things go to waste in the garbage instead of going to your waist. Also, sometimes it’s ok to throw away food your child tried but maybe didn’t like this time. I’ll be the first to admit that we probably throw away half of Titan’s dinner every night. I’m ok with that though because I believe learning to eat a variety of foods is a process and the first step is introduction, followed be experiment etc. Plus, research shows it can take up to 7-9 tries before you really like something. So, with Titan we keep trying and if sometimes the food goes to waste, well, at least we tried.

Any way, just wanted to jot that quote down & some thoughts with it. Hope everyone has a great weekend! 🙂

February at a Glance!

It just takes 30 minutes to start its execution and delivers effective results for many hours. cialis sale in australia just requires sexual stimulation to deliver its optimum results in bed. All right, it’s time to see how we did on our budget in February! I’ve initially intended to post a weekly update to keep me on track but have found just keeping things documented on my spreadsheet every couple days has kept me on track.

And, really, considering I just said that last sentence is a HUGE improvement in and of itself. Never imagined I’d be willingly documenting all of my receipts and analyzing them every few days (and keeping track of all the receipts!) – what has the world come to! 😉

Any way, here is how things went in February:

Shelf Cost: $503.50
Savings Amount: $318.32
Savings Percentage: 63.22%
Total spent in January: $185.18
Amount left in Budget: $14.82!
That’s right! There was actually money left in the budget at the end of the month! I am fairly sure that is unheard of in our 5 1/2 years of marriage! lol
Plus, I was excited because you will notice my saving percentage jumped from 49% to 63%! That’s more a percentage I like to see. My ideal percentage would be above 70% off but I’ll tale 63% any day over 0% or 5%! I mean, why spend $503.50 on your groceries when you can spend $185.18?! 🙂
All in all, February was a good month. Now I just need to convince Broc that the “extra” money should be put away for my next trip to the The Kura door! Just kidding (sort of) it’s going to go into the “Just in Case” fund for any month we need to go over for some reason. Although, hopefully that’s not this year. My goal this year is to get our budget down closer to $150 a month by December! Shoot for the moon, right? And if you miss, at least you still land among the stars.

Treasure(d) Binkie’s – Literally!

I was putting Ti Guy down for his nap today and asked him where his binkies were at. I started to look for the binkies in their normal home, a cars cup that sits on his shelf but suddenly heard,  “No, they are in the treasure chest!” I guess that was a silly question & move on my part. I mean, of course binkies belong in a treasure chest! What was I thinking? How dare I assume they’d be in a mere cup?! 😉

For long term pain relief there are more side effects viagra radical measures available. Oh did we generic cialis no rx mention that we also sell Generic Sildenafil Pills and Generic Tadalafil Pills. Firstly, sildenafil citrate was manufactured for treating heart diseases only; later its effects on erectile functions made it purchase viagra from india successful treatment for male erectile issues.

Titan noticed this box up on my shelf a couple weeks ago and was in absolute awe that I had a treasure chest (more like a $2 box from Tai Pan). I got it down for him and he has had a blast playing with it ever since.

I have found it very interesting and humorous to watch what he has deemed treasure.

So, what does a 3 year old consider treasure? Well, his binkies of course & some coins for his next visit to Panda Express. Love it! Absolutely love that this treasure chest has become home to his binkies & his Panda Express money.

Now, I know. I know that all the books, experts, dentists, etc. say that binkies should disappear at age 1 or 2 or whatever (I truthfully find it funny that every expert gives a different age) but I am not one of those parents that can rip something away.

Plus, I figure just like his bottle and everything else, there will come a time when he’s ready to give his binkies up as well on his own terms & without a massive crying…or struggle… or bribery. Plus, he’s already started to give them up a little at a time on his own any way. First, he started to leave them upstairs during Preschool. Now he’s progressed to leaving them in the car at the gym & on play dates, etc.

Slowly but surely they will disappear as he outgrows them. For now, I’m just enjoying seeing them all gathered together in his little treasure chest. I mean really? How could I tear those away from him when he puts them in a treasure chest for safe keeping?! 😉 He is definitely our little binkie addict!
