It hit me the other day as I was talking with Broc that in just three short years from today, I will be 30. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anxiety over turning 30 (yet!). Realizing though that it’s only three years away did make me pause and think about what I want to accomplish before I turn 30.

I’ve also been thinking about the last 27 years and what I want the next 27 to be like. Of course, 27 years from now is quite a ways in the future. So, I’ve mainly just been trying to focus in more on what I want to accomplish in the next three years.

One thing I know for sure, when was I was blogging more consistently I LOVED the creative outlet that it was & I’ve really missed that the last year or so. So, first one my “Birthday To Do” list is to get this site going again with regular posting & I thought of no better day to start than today… my 27th Birthday! 🙂

With that said, I have some BIG plans & ideas for this little site & one of those new plans will be announced tomorrow! I’m so excited about this change!!!

Stay tuned… 🙂

It just takes some planning…

Want to know one of the easiest ways to save money? It’s simple…plan ahead!

I was thinking about all the ways we save money here at our house and realized the biggest way we save money is by simply planning ahead.

I plan ahead by looking for coupons on what we are in need of at the grocery store. I plan ahead every time we eat out by looking for a coupon before we go & then only going to a place we can find a coupon for. I plan ahead by seeing if H&M has sent me a deal in my email before I head to their store…you get the idea.

Sure, it takes a couple extra minutes sometimes but when you start to see how much you can save, those extra minutes are totally worth it. Here are a couple examples:

Broc told Titan the other day that we could go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner one night. Before we headed out I did a quick check for coupons. I found a coupon for a free kids meals with entree purchase & a coupon for a free spicy chicken sandwich with the purchase of another spicy chicken sandwich. So, we took both coupons. I paid for my meal & titan’s kids meal and Broc did a separate transaction with this meal of the two sandwiches. All in all, we got Titan’s kid’s meal and Broc’s second sandwich for FREE! Our bill was cut in half & we were all more than full when we left.

Second example, I was thinking of making a quick trip to Plato’s Closet one day. I hopped online to see if they were running any deals or promotions and found that if I went Saturday, instead of Friday when I was thinking about going, they were having a $1 Clearance Sale. So, I went Saturday instead and scored some really cute shirts for buck a piece. Had I gone the day before they would have each been over $5!

Third example, a week or so ago I saw that Chick-Fil-A was having a free breakfast week this week and that you could sign up for a free breakfast item from them. I signed both of us up and we both were able to enjoy a FREE beakfast this morning. Broc got a spicy chicken biscuit and I enjoyed a fruit parfait. Oh, and we also got a free Simply Orange Juice with a coupon we had from the Chick-Fil-A Calendar. Yep, our meal was 100% free and all because we took a minute or two to sign up for the promotion a week or so ago. Love it! (In fact, we didn’t even have to go in to get it, Broc just grabbed it through the drive through and brought it home).

See, it really is just all about planning ahead! So, the next time your wishing you had a little more wiggle room in your budget, just start planning ahead. 🙂

For the Love of Reading!

I LOVE to read a good book! I have loved reading for as long as I can remember. In fact, in Elementary school I always had two books with me, the one that I was reading and one just in case I finished the one I was reading. (I know. I know. Total geek and proud of it!)

In 5th grade I had a teacher who would let you check out books from her massive book collection and all I remember doing after school that year was checking out a new book each afternoon (I averaged a book a day) and then going home and reading the day & sometimes night away. In fact, I would even read during recess in the little enclosed space between the outside doors and the inside doors of our grade level.

Yes, I truly loved to read then and still love to read now. There’s just nothing else like it.

So, the other morning when I happened to walk past Titan’s room early in the morning and saw him lying on his stomach in his crib looking through a book it melted my heart & made me happy beyond words. My mom instilled in me a love of reading and I hope and pray I instill the same love in Titan.

Books have always had a magical power for me. They can take you anywhere any time & while I know we live in the digital age, there is just still something about holding an actual book in my hands that I will always love. In fact, I get ridiculously excited even just walking into the library or a Barnes & Noble. Thankfully, between my mom and myself, Titan has accumulated quite the book collection so we never have to go very far to find a book. It is a collection I hope never stops growing!

Happy Monday Everyone!
