Last monday I shared a quote about how Bethany Frankle gets everything done in a day & shared 3 goals that I had for the week. The goals were:
1) Say “yes” more to my son Titan
2) Spend 30 minutes a day getting more organized
3) Check three things of my “Procrastination List”
So, how did I do? Not too bad. Here is a run down of how things went…
In the saying “yes” more category, I did make an extra effort to say yes to Titan more so than I usually do. With a husband in medical school & being a mom that works from home 15-25 a week, I find I’m sometimes rushing through my day and brushing my little man off more than I should be
So, this week I made an extra effort to say yes to a few extra stories, yes to snuggles in the afternoon watching Go Diego Go, yes to Titan doing his “special trick” as he gets in the car (the trick is him entering through my door, grabbing a sip of diet coke & then making his way through the middle back to his seat – lol) & yes to yet another walk down the toy isle at Target.
Interesting thing about saying yes more, it starts to become more routine & easier. I was happier because I wasn’t feeling so guilty about working because I knew I had said yes to a lot of things earlier in the morning or the day before. And, Titan was happier because he was getting more time with mom and feeling like his opinion mattered.
Were there times I had to say no still? Of course! I found though that by saying yes whenever I could, Titan took the “no’s” a little better. 🙂
In regards to the checking three things off my procrastination list and spending 30 minutes a day getting more organized, check & check!
Broc’s school held a garage sale last saturday and so I spent time each day getting ready for that and then on Friday we spent 3-4 hours really getting ready for it.
Like I’ve mentioned before, we have a TON of stuff in storage right now & a lot of it is stuff that hasn’t been opened since 6 months after we got married (and we’ve been married 5 1/2 years). Friday night we finally started to really tackle it and we made it through 1/2 to 2/3 of the bins! Woo hoo! I can’t even tell you how much I’ve been dreading that task and to know it’s 1/2 way over – total relief! I’m so determined not to just keep moving who knows what around any more because I save things until the last minute and don’t have the time I want to go through it. 🙂
There is still a lot more to do down in storage but at least we got the ball rolling & I now find it so much easier to go down and spend 30 minutes or so going through stuff when I have a second since the project is already in motion.
So, how did we do at the garage sale? Well, we only made $105.00, but the fact that it motivated us to stop procrastinating on the project – well, that’s priceless! 😉 Besides it was all stuff that was going to be donated to Goodwill had we not done the garage sale, so $105 is just fine by me.
PS: What does the funny face photo have to do with anything? Well, normally I’m trying to get Titan to smile and pose and do what I want in our photo’s. This was another of my just say “yes” moments on Mother’s Day. He wanted funny faces, so that’s what we did. 🙂
