one of the formal nights

after puerto vallarta our next two days in port were mazatlan and cabo. in mazatlan we decided to spend the morning off the boat just walking around and doing a little shopping. we had a taxi take us to the central market and, boy oh boy, was i in for a surprise when we walked in and there was massive amounts of meat (still resembling the animal(s) it came from) just hanging out in the food area. gross! we moved through that area quickly to say the least. thank heavens for u.s. food standards – there is no way this meat was still sanitary! ew! we were also lead by a super nice police officer to a ridiculously cheap internet cafe where 15 minutes only ended up being fifty cents. considering on the cruise ship it was seventy five cents a minute, we were very excited for this discovery. in our opinion, there isn’t much to do in mazatlan, so after an hour or two of walking around, we went back to the boat to enjoy some more time out on deck soaking up the sun and enjoying the peace and calm of a mostly empty cruise ship.
the day we were in mazatlan also happened to be april 8th – four years from our first date! to celebrate we ate an “ah – mazing” dinner at the pinnacle steakhouse, a reservation only restaurant on board, that we were told is a “not to miss”.
in cabo we did the beach buggy excursion. i had no idea what to expect, but i had a blast. we drove the “jeep esque” vehicles around cabo, on and off road. we were able to do some off road driving in the river bottoms and then also visit three different beaches. at the last beach we stayed for an hour and attempted to snorkel. i say attempted because the water was not nearly as calm or clear as when we were in st. thomas (i didn’t realize how incredible our experience in st. thomas was). i would say this excursion was the perfect way to see cabo and to do a variety of things all at the same time. it was an excellent end to our days in port.

doing some shopping in mazatlan
this store had animal mannequins. not sure what i thought of those.

puerto vallarta

our first port was puerto vallarta. broc surprised me by signing us up for the extreme canopy outdoor adventure.

the excursion consisted of a thirty minute speed boat ride to another dock where we were then transported to base camp in yellow army vehicles. at base camp we were decked out with all our gear and prepped for a mule ride to the starting point of the hike. after a steep jaunt up to the first zip line it was all downhill from there. we got to experience nine amazing zip lines, repelling down a waterfall, and a free fall drop. it was incredible to say the least. if you are ever, and i mean ever, in puerto vallarta you absolutely need to do this. it was worth every dollar. in a later post i will give you all the information (cost, company, etc.)

happy picture perusing!

while waiting for our excursion transportation we got to see some parrots. i even had a parrot perched on my shoulder at one point but didn’t feel like paying the cruise ship $10.00 for the kodak moment.
mr. parrot himself. one of his friends was learning how to say “hola.” made us smile.

all set for the speed boat ride. gotta love the construction orange.

once we docked these were the banana yellow trucks we took up to base camp. such friendly drivers.

the foliage and tropical greenery in puerto vallarta blew me away. very picturesque.

on our mules headed up the mountain. side note: this picture all of the following pictures until you get to the yellow army trucks were taken by the company photographer. they are not my handy work. it would have been impossible to take these on our own. so glad they had a photographer on hand to capture it all for us.

our crew. they held our lives in their very hands and did an awesome job at it. i never once even thought about how potentially dangerous what we were doing could be. they kept us 100% safe.

first zip line.

repelling down the waterfall.

another of the many zip lines.

the free fall.

the landing.

you can see the bridge above broc that you walk out on to do the free fall.

the water felt so good!

so much fun! i didn’t want it to end!
it’s a race. even with me getting a head start, broc still won!

i take it he enjoyed the excursion too!

the yellow, german, army trucks that took us up to base camp (broc just informed me they are made by mercedes. oo la la!)

the view of the valley from base camp

the cove we docked at after the speed boat ride.

other side of the cove. not as exciting.

an arch that we were apparently supposed to “oo” and “ah” over? kind of cool i guess.
and that is the end of puerto vallarta. i am fairly certain this was my favorite day of the trip.
ps. for all you pro photographers/photo critics out there, i am not a pro. far from it. we have a basic digital camera that i use maybe two of the settings on. i basically know how to turn on and off the flash. that’s about it. so please be patient with me on this blog as i fine tune my photo taking skills. i know my photo’s are not up to par as of yet. i’m working on it.

Cruise to Mexican Riviera (Part 1)

Regular exercise provides enough blood to your reproductive organs, thereby improving your intimate function. canadian viagra 100mg This causes more blood to flow into the sex organs during sexual activity cheapest tadalafil online resulting in stronger and sustained erection for maximum sexual performance delivery. days at sea
the first installment is here. i started out writing about the trip and then was going to put all the pictures at the end.  i then changed my mind though and decided to let the pictures do most the story telling with captions. this trip was our second time to the mexican riviera. the first time we went was for our honeymoon back in 2006.
enjoy!

in port next to the queen mary waiting to set sail. can you say set sail on a ship that has no sails? hmm…

taking in some sun while waiting for the ship to leave port

on carnival they leave you a towel animal every night and this creature was our first. we weren’t quite sure what this animal was meant to be? a walrus perhaps?

our first dinner and the dessert was creme brulee. i was in heaven. literally. i kept hoping it would make another appearance on the dessert menu, but it did not.

the wake behind our boat. as we didn’t not take the mini man on the cruise i took full advantage of the pool & deck chairs on the back of the boat for adults only. this was my view as i laid out basking in the wonderful & perfectly sunny weather. the first two days of our cruise were “sea days”.
broc is not a fan of the sun like i am so he would make appearances here and there out on deck. i believe this was right after he took part in a texas hold ’em tournament. a must for him on every cruise.
i enjoyed each and every minute of the sea days and the glorious weather. considering when we left home we left snow – i did not move from this chair for two days between the hours of 8 & 5.

i got this hat last year at h&m for i believe $9.00, but never really got to put it to good use. it definitely got used on this trip. the wide brim was perfect for keeping the sun out while i read my pool trash and must reads. if you do not own a wide brim beach hat – i highly recommend one. i wish i had one in every color now, or at the very least in brown as well. i can’t believe this is the first summer (or trip) i’ve worn one on. i’m turning into a hat fanatic!

broc probably made trips to the bar to get my diet coke at least ten times a day. he was such a trooper getting my drinks and food for me so i didn’t miss a minute of my uninterrupted sun time. to spend two whole days with not interruptions or distractions was pure bliss. especially since i was in the sun and had access to unlimited diet coke for every second of it.

broc enjoying the sushi bar. i tried some, but didn’t make it past a bite or two. it was way too fishy for me. i know, i know, sushi is fish! some sushi is just way too fishy though.

we enjoyed a round of mini golf one of the sea days. we placed a bet that if i won broc was in charge of the little man from 9 to 5 every day of our annual bear lake trip coming up in july. if broc won he got to stay out of the sun up in the condo during the bear lake trip.

as you can see, we will both be taking care of the mini man and enjoying the sun.

scenic shot. i love the sun glistening on the water.

 kiss!
well that’s all the pictures from our first 2 1/2 days. coming soon…our stops in puerto vallarta, mazatlan, and cabo san lucas. oh, and my book reviews. i got through three complete books on this trip! another reason i enjoyed the uninterrupted time so much. i don’t have nearly enough time anymore to read as much as i’d like to.
