It’s April 1st! Can you believe it? I guess that means it’s time to do our March in review post!

In March…
I was out running errands and I hit up against a curb and got a flat tire. (I honestly could not believe that was all it took for my tire to flatten like a pancake?!) I called Broc to see if he could come change it and he said, “Can’t you change it? That’s in your skill set, right? I think there is  a spare in the trunk”.
What I wanted to say was, “Well honey, as a matter of fact, yes. It is indeed in my skill set. I’m pregnant though, it’s starting to rain/snow and you are less than 5 minutes away. So get your behind over here.” Instead I just told him I didn’t know how to do it and later confessed that I actually do. So grateful he was close by and made his way over even though he didn’t really want to.
In the end we had to purchase four brand new tires for the car which is so not a fun bill to pay! If a tire pops that easily though, I guess it’s time to get some new ones put on. Plus, with the road trip this car has to make to Pennsylvania in a few months…better safe than sorry, right?!

We did LOTS of spring cleaning…and still have LOTS more to do! (All of the above bags went to the Salvation Army one night.) There’s just something about knowing you are moving across that country that seriously makes you assess and re-assess each and every single item that you own! LOL

As part of my deep cleaning I also tried out a new method for cleaning Titan’s toys. I put them in the dishwasher with some vinegar on the bottom and then just ran a regular cycle. Um, SO much easier than trying to wash and sanitize all the toys by hand! These were some of his bath toys and I think his Duplo Legos will be my next load.

We had a banana split and Yahtzee game night!

Titan found our Yahtzee game and wanted to give it a try. So while I made the banana splits, Broc taught him how to play. Titan was a little concerned when he saw on the box that it says for players age 8 and up. We convinced him it would be fine, and sure enough, it didn’t take him long to catch on.

The baby bump arrived!
Our baby girl is growing healthy and strong and finally growing outward as opposed to trying to take up every square inch of space everywhere else. It was definitely about time considering this was taken at 24 weeks. (And, yes. I know our bathroom is in need of a good deep cleaning…) 🙂

We went on some walks to Hobby Lobby.

And, we spent a night at the Lifetime Indoor Pool! I am definitely going to miss Lifetime when we move to PA. We love our family time at the gym!

In fact, this is the face I get when I announce it’s time to leave.

…and then he pouts by the wall.

Luckily, telling him we were grabbing pizza and some movies on the way home helped get him out. We tried out Marco’s for the first time and really liked it. It’s definitely on my list of places to visit again before we move!

After stopping for pizza, we grabbed some treats and movies at Redbox to finish the night as a movie night! I love nights at home with my boys.

Another day in March we made a super random trip to Walmart to look for some shoes I saw on Instagram and so Titan could ride in the “helmet”.
I asked Titan to make a list of all of the things in Colorado he wanted to do once more before we move and this helmet  ride made the list. Seriously?!? Luckily it’s only $0.50 and I did want to check for the shoes…(Which, by the way, were never found in their horribly organized shoe section!)
Of course, once we were there I immediately remembered why we NEVER go there. Other than Ti Guy’s beloved helmet ride…so. not. worth. it! I’ll stick to Target, Kings and Costco! 🙂
In fact, we go there so little, this was Titan was we were pulling up – “Mom. Look! It’s the place with the helmet. That place with the sun type thing in it’s logo.” – He couldn’t even remember the name for Walmart. LOL

The little man “people watching” at Walmart.

Another day we made a trip out to Fort Carson for some eye appointments on base. While we were there we decided to grab lunch on base and ended up walking past a Game Stop store. Which, naturally, we just HAD to go in! I was standing there looking at Ti check out the Wii U section and between the hoody, flip flops and his conversation – I had a hard time remembering I was talking to my 5 year old. When did he get SO big??? He’s 5 going on 15 I tell ya! 😉

Love this little man!

Here’s Titan “helping” me with my Biostatistics homework. We had a very in-depth and serious research question all worked out for our group project for the final in the class. But, then we were told that we needed to make it easier. So, counting M&M’s it was. In case you were wondering, there are on average 17 M&M’s in each Fun Size pack. Of course some bags had as few as 13 and some had as many as 27!

After a late night of homework and packing it was off to Utah for Spring Break! Someone was excited to be on the road… 🙂

As soon as we got into town we headed to my brother’s house for a Frozen Birthday Party for his two girls. The Scandinavian themed food for dinner and the decor were SO cute!

At the end of the party my brother passed out all of the pin lanyards he had put together for everyone for our Disney World trip in May. Broc and I opted out of the pin trading but we were glad we got a set for Titan to have fun with. He is already becoming quite the pin trading master. Plus, he was asking everyone else what they plan to trade for so he can help them find what they want. Amazing what he fits into his memory!

Let the pin trading begin!

Titan trading with Uncle Conner. Between all the trading the kids were already doing at the party, I can tell they are going to have a lot of fun with it when they are actually in the parks at Disney World!

Another fun thing we did that night was fill out some March Madness brackets for the rides/events at Disneyland and Disney World. My brother is a HUGE Disney fan (and that’s putting it mildly) and it was funny to see that other than one ride, Titan’s filled out sheet was identical to my brother’s! These two are so a like it’s scary some times! So grateful Ti has such fun uncles though!

When we weren’t eating or playing – I did try to start fitting in some workouts. I took this Lindsey Brin Prengnacy 3-Pack video set with me to Utah on our trip but I only ended up doing it once. Between all the stairs I was doing at my mom’s house and all the walking I was doing on the days I was at BYU or shopping at the outlets, I felt like I was getting plenty of movement in.

Speaking of all the eating we were doing, I went with my sister to the new 5 Star BBQ that just opened in Orem after hearing it was a lot like Rudy’s here in Colorado. While the concept is similar and the food was good – I will stick with our Rudy’s. (The prices at Rudy’s are much better and their cream corn is better as well!)

It was fun though to try out a new place and to have a lunch with my sister before my test at BYU. It’s not often we are able to get together without all of our kids.
While we were in Utah I had to take one test for my Human Anatomy class and so it was off to BYU to have it proctored. Not going to lie, a little annoyed that BYU charged me to proctor a BYU-I test! I mean, come on! The campus was really pretty though and the weather was amazing and so I didn’t mind having to be on campus and outside.

After my test, I did stopped by the Ross in Orem to take a quick look at their maternity section (more on that in another post) and then we dropped off Titan at my brother and sister-in-law’s and went to see Divergent with my mom. I just barely read the book while we were on our cruise in January and so it was fun to see the movie so soon after. I really liked the movie and am excited now to to read the second book!

Another item on our To Do list for while we were in Utah was shopping at Seagull Book and Deseret Book. We don’t have either of those in Colorado Springs and that’s where I like to do all of my Easter shopping for the little man. So I made sure to hit them up during our visit and avoided having to pay shipping online later this month. (Note to self for the future: Don’t try to go on a Monday night after 7PM. Both stores will be closed!)

I ended up being able to find some really cute things and even came across a game Titan has been asking for. YAY! (More about that in a later post as well!)

One thing my mom and I like to do whenever I visit is stop in an Olive Garden for lunch. It’s the only time either of us really go. While we were there this time they introduced their new lunch menu to us and all I can say is. “It’s about time!” 🙂 I’m not sure about all locations, but at the one in Sandy you can now get the soup, salad and breadsticks for $6.99. And if you want, you can add on a pasta or other small entree for only $2.99 more. Such a great idea!

Gelato!
Another night in Utah we took Titan to see The LEGO Movie and we grabbed some gelato before hand in the food court at Jordan Commons. I love their Almond Joy and their Raspberry! Both are SO YUMMY!

PS: If you haven’t seen The LEGO Movie yet, it is actually really cute. It has great messages through out and was nothing like I was expecting. (I’ll admit I had REALLY low expectations!) Definitely a good movie for the whole family and one we will be purchasing when it releases on DVD and Blu-ray.

Hair appointments with Aunt Brooke at Amber Renae Salon. Titan asked for a picture and then took four photos all similar to this – really? 🙂 At least his hair is decently cut now.  We are so sad we won’t be able to get haircuts as often from Brooke now that we will be moving to PA!

Another favorite Utah meal. 🙂 I wanted to visit H&M and my mom had a return at Fashion Place Mall, so we made a night out of it. H&M ended up being a disappointment but we were able to get Hot Dog on a Stick for me and Panda and some Mrs. Fields Cookies for Titan. (I guess that’s tradition when we are in Utah and with Grandma Cindy…at least according to Titan.)

Our last day in Utah I went to a baby shower for my cousin and then I spent the rest of the day shopping with my mom and sisters. We went to the Traverse Mountain Outlets, Cafe Rio and Ross.(My younger sister works at Ross and we definitely LOVE when we can take advantage of her discount.)
While we were shopping we came across this display at Motherhood Maternity and my sister said, “Look it’s your color palette. And they are all Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off. Buy one of each and you will be set for Disney World.”
Truthfully, she wasn’t too far off with saying that’s my color palette. Apparently I am pretty set in my ways when it comes to what colors and types of clothes I wear…and I guess that same color palette is already showing up in our daughter’s wardrobe! 🙂

Last but not least, you can tell you’ve had a good trip trip when you have been in the car on your way back home for less than 20 minutes and your child is out cold! I guess we wore the little man out… 😉
We definitely enjoyed our time in Utah and are glad we went there for Spring Break! We were able to spend lots of time with family and go through most of our stuff in storage. That part wasn’t so fun but I made it more enjoyable with a Coconut Caffeine Free DC (or a few Coconut DC’s) from the local gas station. Best discovery ever! I think every gas station should have the syrup add-ins now! Plus, it was really nice that my mom and Broc’s dad helped us out a lot loading trailers, moving boxes, organizing, etc. Definitely made the process go faster!
What did all of you do for Spring Break?? Did you stay home and have a “staycation” or travel somewhere fun?

Park City Girls Weekend 2013

This is vardenafil tablets india of due importance because of the increasing stress and anxiety in life. Mitotic inhibitors slow cancer buy sildenafil australia cell division or hinder certain enzymes necessary in the cell reproduction process. It’s simple: When it works as intended, free levitra samples causes a man who is sexually stimulated to get an erection. How does levitra do that? And why does disambiguation – work only if the man wakes in the middle of the night with an erection, it could be an indication that the problem is dreadfully connected with health problems like cardiovascular issues and vascular problem. Besides the privacy aspect of buy viagra , there are also benefits to your body.

Every year in the fall all the girls on my dad’s side of the family get together for a weekend in Park City. We stay at the Marriott Summit Watch and spend lots of time catching up, laughing, shopping, and of course trying out all the fantastic restaurants Park City has to offer.  I’m not able to go every year, but when I do get to go, I always have a blast!

(Thanks to my sister, Tara at Keep Moving Forward with Me for the photo!)
The first day (Friday) we got up to Park City around 3:00 and made our way to the Tanger Outlets and TJ Maxx for some serious shopping! At TJ Maxx my sister found this oh so cute sweater and we both decided that this is one trend we will be passing on. Just not quite sure how I feel about wearing a squirrel, cat, fox, bird, elephant or any other animal on my sweater?! Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet…??? 😉

After shopping it was off to meet everyone for dinner at Good Thymes. We were all very excited to try it out. Sadly though, no one’s food was very good. But they did have a cool chandelier! 🙂 (Note: If you do decide to give this restaurant a try, make sure to pay for your dinner with a Restaurant.com Gift Card. We were able to purchase a $25 gift card for only $10. So it saved us $15 on our meal!)
I seriously want this is chandelier in my kitchen when we have an actual home of our own and aren’t renting! How fun is it that it’s made up utensils?!
Oh, they they did have yummy s’mores. (Kind of hard to screw up s’mores though…) 😉

After dinner it was up to the hotel to show off our shopping purchases and trade our “Favorite Things”.  For the favorite things exchange we all purchase five of our favorite things under $5 and then we trade by drawing names. It’s always really fun to see what people bring. We had everything from Naked Juice Protein Smoothies (that was my favorite thing!) and Great Harvest Granola to Suave Dry Shampoo and scarves from New York! (PS: Anyone else absolutely LOVE the beds at Marriott Resorts? I swear I will own an exact replica of this bed one day…)

The next morning my sister, mom, and I decided to wake up a little early and get a work out in. We did some weights and cardio at the hotel gym and then did a brisk walk and some stairs on Main Street.

I love Park City this time of year!

The stairs.

Happy we got our workout in. Especially since we were eating SO much yummy food all weekend!

On the way to the Tanger Outlets for our second round of shopping my sister let me take a sip of the Total Nutrition Immortal Herbs sample that she was trying out. It looked absolutely nasty (thus my look of concern) but actually ended up tasting ok since it was blended with Bolt-House Farms Juice.

While shopping we worked up quite an appetite so we stopped in Park City Pizza Co. for a quick snack before dinner. My mom and I found this place last year and LOVE their cheese sticks.
It’s kind of a hole in the wall, “Ma and Pa” type place, but you seriously can’t beat the food and prices!

The delicious cheese bread!

Later that night we went to another favorite, Baja Cantina. It’s a mexican restaurant with great food as well. We’ve been going for a few years now and every time it’s been awesome.
My Not-So Nachos at Baja Cantina. Can you tell yet that we basically just do lots of shopping and eating on this trip? LOVE it! Of course, we also played Bunco on night (I won $25!) and spend time down at the hot tub. The whole weekend really is the perfect mix of relaxing and having fun!

After a jam packed weekend of girl time and shopping it was home to our families to carve some pumpkins! Every year my dad grows pumpkins in his garden and then brings them for the grandchildren to carve. Titan had A TON of fun hanging out with this cousins. Aren’t they so cute?!

Here they are doing their “scary” faces. Love them!

Let the carving begin!

Ti wasn’t really into the carving. It was too slimy and yucky for him. He did great supervising though. Of course, no big surprise there! 😉

The finished product. This isn’t all of the pumpkins that were carved but it’s at least some of them. It was hard to get a photo with all the candles lit since it was a windy night. (Titan’s pumpkins are the two in the center row.)

And just so we can remember, here is the pumpkin Titan and Broc carved at a party Broc’s side of the family had while I was in Park City. Titan said it was “Frankenstein’s Goblin”.
Overall, it was a fantastic weekend! I got to spend time with the girls, score some awesome deals and take a break from being mom and wife for teeny tiny bit and my boys got to have fun going to football games and family parties! Win win all the way around.
What are you favorite things to do in Park City? We are always looking for new activities or restaurants to try out!

Have you started carving your pumpkins yet? Or do you wait until Halloween?

Carnival vs. Princess

versus
now onto the main item of business, i’ve been asked which cruise line i prefer between princess and carnival. let me preface all this, by saying i am not a cruising pro. we have been on two cruises through princess cruise lines and now one cruise on carnival – only three in all. so this is all just my opinion and observation. really any cruise is a fabulous cruise in my book. i could just tell you my favorite and call it a day, but i figured a better comparative analysis might help people in making their own selection. really, i think it’s all just in what you are after and your wants & needs. so here it goes:

overall cleanliness of ship: it was a tie. both lines have very well maintained ships from top to bottom. the only difference i noticed is there did seem to be more maintenance work going on during our cruise on carnival. painting, replacing fixtures in elevators, etc. it didn’t hinder or interrupt our experience at all, it just was an observation.

friendliness/competency of crew: princess won here. carnival didn’t seem as organized or as on top of everything as princess. there was more confusion, more lost paperwork, etc. the staff was very friendly and really the customer service was very good, it just was not up to par with princess. close but not quite. on princess it was phenomenal red carpet treatment the entire time both times.

food: princess. understand though that this was based solely on my addiction to caesar salad, fettuccine alfredo, desserts and breads. other than those four items the food was excellent on both lines. on carnival fettuccine alfredo was never even an option and their caesar salad should have been called anchovy salad. in carnival’s defense they did have ridiculously yummy burrito bar and omelette bar – but then again they were stingy on their chips and salsa and there were not as many dessert options at dinner? (it’s all in the little things for me!)

drinks: another tie. carnival had canned diet coke, not fountain. princess has fountains at each of their bars. princess would have gotten my vote solely based on that tidbit except carnival did redeem themselves with unlimited and totally yummy hot chocolate that i probably got at least three times a day. i am actually researching their automatic hot chocolate maker – wouldn’t mind one for my own kitchen. it was fabulous. i have no idea about the quality of any of the beers or alcoholic drinks?

on board activities: tied. i preferred the outdoor movie screen on princess (they provided blankets, a better quality screen, and popcorn) but carnival did have the miniature golf & a water slide. in regards to the nightly shows/entertainment – it appeared that carnival had slightly more vegas style entertainment that was less family friendly for the most part. the comedians were a little dicier and the costuming & dancing in the nightly entertainment was not my favorite. so you can decide for yourself.

pools and surrounding areas: great on both.

child care: this is where carnival blows princess out of the water. on princess they won’t take your child at all unless they are 3 years of age and older in their child center. on carnival you can put your child in their activities center from the age of 2, and for infants and toddlers you have a few different options where you can pay an additional fee and have them babysat as well. whereas princess doesn’t off any option for children under the age of 2. period. we have actually never used either child center (titan was just 6 months old when he went with us on princess) but if i were to do a cruise again and had children under the age of 3, i would go with carnival regardless of the other things i prefer on princess. carnival also had things like the water slide and mini golf for older kids? carnival just seemed more family friendly. although if i didn’t have any children under 3 i would choose princess.

miscellaneous: the decor on carnival was horrific. my eyes literally hurt when we first boarded. i thought we were on one of their oldest ships, but no, our ship was actually their newest one. it was themed and all tied together but it was just way too much for me. i also did not like how on carnival you had to check out pool towels. on princess they just have them available to grab whenever you want and as many as you want. carnival did provide super comfy robes in the room and nightly towel animals that were kind of fun? still would rather have unlimited pool towels though without the hassle of checking them out. i also preferred the nightly news brochure that princess provides as compared to carnivals.

all in all, we prefer princess. carnival does a fantastic job and i thoroughly enjoyed our cruise with them, but princess for the most part just seems to take everything one extra step above and beyond. when we took titan on a cruise last summer i was amazed at how much attention he received, how helpful they were with the stroller, etc. so although you can’t put your child in the kid center they were still very kid friendly – you just had to keep your kid with you at all times. also carnival seemed to attract a more party hardy type of people and that’s not really my scene or my family’s. any way, we prefer princess but both do a wonderful job. really it just boils down to what scene you’re after and what cruise line is has sailing dates that meet your schedule.
