I still need to write about our cruise at the beginning of January. Before I get to that though, I figured it was probably time for a quick pregnancy update! I actually meant to post this last week (when I was closer to 18 weeks) but didn’t get around to finishing it until tonight. I guess that’s just how to goes around here lately… 🙂

Here are the questions we’ve been getting asked the most and/or just other things I know I’ll want to remember down the road…

**********

When did you find out you were pregnant? October 27, 2013

Was it planned? Yes. We figured it was about time we start adding to our family considering Titan just turned five this last November.

What was your first reaction? So excited!!!

Who was the first person you told?
Broc

How/When did you tell your family?
We told both our families on Thanksgiving by having Titan wear a shirt that said “Only Child” on the front and “Until July 2014” on the back.

How far along are you? About 18 weeks.

What was your first symptom? Food aversion. I was at breakfast during a girls weekend and nothing sounded good but toast and eggs. I thought, “Hmm…the last time only that sounded good I was pregnant.” Sure enough, I went home, took the test and it was positive!

What is your due date?
July

Do you know the sex of the baby? Not yet. We will find out in a few weeks.

Have you picked out names?
We have discussed some names. So far we can agree on a girl name we really like but not a boy name.

How much weight have you gained? Lost 10 pounds. Have gained about 3-4 back.

Do you have stretch marks? No new ones…yet! 😉

Have you felt the baby move? Yes. (Just little flutters)

Have you heard the heartbeat yet? Yes. I got to hear it for the first time on January 6th and Broc and Titan got to hear it for the first time on January 28th.

Maternity Clothes? Not yet. My jeans are fitting snug but I think it’s more bloating than anything because some days they are fine and other days they are really uncomfortable.

Guadalahonkeys in Draper, UT – We went here at least four times while we were in Utah in December.

Cravings? Water (the first few weeks I seriously couldn’t drink enough and DC sounded awful to me!!!), Mexican Food (Smothered Burritos, Nachos, Chips & Salsa, etc.) Peach Mango Smoothies from Jamba Juice, Cheesy Bread with Marinara Sauce (can’t really eat Ranch), Crystal Light Raspberry Ice, Waffles, etc.. Basically comfort food! (Side note: One night I had a really strong craving for a BBQ Ranch Burger from McDonalds after seeing commercials for it. It sounded SO ridiculously good. Broc refused to run and go get one though…so the craving passed and I haven’t had it again since. That’s probably been the most random craving.)

Exercise plan? None so far. It’s basically been survival mode until the last week or so. I’ve stayed active as far as being up and moving around but haven’t made it to the gym more than a handful of times. I plan to start changing that now that I’m starting to feel more normal.

Morning Sickness? Check and check. Just like with my first pregnancy I’ve had really bad nausea all day, almost every day since November 6th. With medicine it’s bearable about 75-80% off the time. Still haven’t had much of an appetite though. I’ve been taking Zofran 3x’s a day and a Unisom at night before bed. (I tried one or the other and it wasn’t strong enough, needed both until recently.) The last week or so I’ve been able to taper the Zofran to as needed (about once per day) and have just been taking the Unisom at night. It seems to be working ok as long as I don’t skip the Unisom. Made that mistake and paid for it the next day. A little nervous to taper off the Unisom but will probably try in the next few weeks. Definitely ready for my appetite to start returning! 🙂

Still working? Yes. I am still working 15-20 hours a week for Freebies2Deals. I am also taking 7 credits online at BYU-Idaho (Biostatistics and Human Anatomy & Physiology with the Lab) and I am still teaching Titan/having him home full-time as well. (Meaning he learns through out the day here with me vs. going to a Preschool 3-4 days a week for a few hours). Some days have been tricky to say the least but so far all the balls (well maybe other than the laundry ball) have stayed up in the air in our juggling act around here. A lot of that is thanks to Broc and Titan!!!

Showing yet? As you can see…not really. I mostly just look like I’ve eaten a few too many doughnuts for breakfast and am a little pudgier around the edges. No distinguishable baby bump yet. The doctor says Baby Parker is measuring right on though for 18 weeks. So it’s all good. 🙂 I’m sure the bump will show up soon enough!

Hormonal? There was one night in December that I had a mini melt down. Other than that though, I seem to be doing ok. The night in December it had been a really long day and I wasn’t feeling well at all. All I wanted to do was to crawl into bed and watch a show on Netflix. Well…I couldn’t get the cord plugged into the wall behind the bed… and I started to cry. By the time Broc walked in I was half crying/half laughing because I knew how absurd it was that I was crying over something so lame, but I just couldn’t stop. I figure, at least I was able to recognize it was silly, right?! 🙂

…and that’s about it! One last thing I did want to note (mainly because we have had it assumed a few times and we always feel bad/awkward when it happens) is that we have NOT been trying for the last 4-5 years to get pregnant. So while we consider all pregnancy and babies miracles and blessings, we do not consider this pregnancy anything out of the ordinary or something we have been really struggling for. We are one of those couples that just decided to space our kids a little further out. And luckily, when we decided to grow our family again this time, it didn’t take very long. Something that we are VERY grateful for! 🙂
