I know Easter was weeks ago and that April is already over, but I still wanted to document our Easter before I forget. Unless I get a post up, the pictures get lost in the deep dark whole of photos in my Mac library. (Please tell me I’m not the only one that needs to do a massive clean out of their photos!)

Easter for us this year was pretty low key. We dyed Easter eggs as a family Saturday afternoon, Ti got his Easter basket from the Easter Bunny Sunday morning, we went to church after that and then that evening we went to my in-laws for dinner. I had wanted to take Titan to a local Easter Egg Hunt or something but it seems those don’t really get done in our area anymore. 🙁 (I guess there was a HUGE ordeal at a local hunt a few years ago that involved parents being too involved and so now most hunts in Colorado Springs have been permanently cancelled. So sad if you ask me!) I’m crossing my fingers that things are the same in Pennsylvania and that we can do a hunt next year.

Any way, here is our weekend in pictures…

Let the coloring begin!

My boys! Love these two!

Titan was very meticulous with his designs on the eggs. Love his seriousness and concentration.

Dad even got in on the fun and colored a few of his own.

One of the eggs wouldn’t stay in the coloring and so Titan spent literally ten minutes pushing it back down every time it would pop back up.

These two…Ti was telling Broc some secret plan of some sort. I’m glad this next little one is a girl otherwise I’d really be in trouble. 😉

Some of the finished product!

Titan’s basket hidden by the Easter Bunny
(I know, SO not creative but when you live in a small apartment, you start running out of places to hide things.)

YAY! He found it!
Checking out the candy!

Speaking of candy – there was definitely plenty to go around!

On the drive to Grandma & Grandpa’s house. Titan asked if he could wear this crown and we told him that would be fine. Half way to their house I looked back and he was asleep like this! Funny little man!

…and last, but not least, a quick photo of Ti and his Uncle Brady with all the eggs they found on the Easter Egg Hunt Grandma and Grandpa set up around the house. (Brady was a really good sport to do the hunt with Titan.)
That reminds me, how many of you grew up doing an Easter Egg Hunt with the eggs you dyed?
When Broc and I did our first Easter with Titan, we dyed the eggs and then Broc told me we needed to hide them. I was really surprised and asked why? He said “Because that’s what you do. You dye the Easter eggs and then the Easter Bunny hides them and you go on a hunt for them.” He asked me what we always did with our eggs and I told him we didn’t dye them every year and when we did, we certainly didn’t hide them around the house but rather just used them as decor. And if we did a hunt, we looked for plastic eggs with candy or little trinkets in them. I mean, who wants to hunt for a few day old hard boiled eggs?
It was one of those funny moments where you realize that each family has their own traditions and way of doing things. Of course, despite how weird I thought it was, now that Titan has done a similar hunt a few years in a row at my in-laws, I can see how my husband’s way it’s sort of fun…even though you do just end right back with the same eggs you started with…and no chocolate! 😉

When I was growing up our Easter baskets were always filled with church themed items, some candy and maybe one little toy or stuffed animal. When Broc and I had Ti, we decided to “request” the same from the Easter Bunny! 😉
Titan knows that the Easter Bunny brings church stuff and Santa brings the toys. 🙂

This year Titan received an Illustrated Book of Mormon Stories that he and I can use to build upon what we are reading together during our family scripture time. I like the idea of reading scriptures from the Book of Mormon or Bible all together as a family and then using this book during the day to re-cap what we read, look at pictures, etc.
I have actually been meaning to grab a book like this for a few years now but could never track one down at the price I wanted. So, when I saw this for 15% off at Seagull Book, I finally grabbed it. 🙂 It was a little pricier but definitely worth it in my mind.

Titan has one of these puzzle books already (It’s a New Testament one) and it is PERFECT for throwing in my bag for church. I like that it’s durable, church themed, and quiet. And Titan likes doing the puzzles and other hidden activities they include.
So when I saw this other version on clearance, I knew I had to get it! (Side note: It definitely pays to know your prices and to shop around. I grabbed this at Seagull on clearance for around $5.00 and that same day at Deseret Book I saw it for close to $10.00.)
Titan saw this in his basket and said, “The Easter Bunny must know how much I REALLY like my other puzzle book. It’s just like that one!” – SCORE!

Living Scriptures “Nephi and the Brass Plates” DVD
Broc and I have been talking about purchasing the entire Living Scriptures DVD collection for a while now but have yet to make the investment. I mean, each DVD is usually around $25 and that’s when they are on sale. One day we’ll bite the bullet and just shell out the $200-$300, but until then….I saw this introductory pack at Seagull and picked it up for around $6.00. It doesn’t give us the entire collection by any means, but it’s at least a start!
Titan wasn’t super thrilled about a “church” movie. In fact, when he pulled it out of the basket he said, “Mom do you think you could sell this?” (Just keeping it real & honest…) When we all sat down and watched it together as a family after church on Sunday though, it did hold his attention and he was asking us some questions after about the story.

Filler Items
These were all some of the smaller “filler” items I picked up to add to the basket:
Ti was really excited that this tie didn’t have a clip. All his other ties have come as part of suit sets and they have been clip-ons which he says hurts his neck when he bows his head for prayers. So a new tie that didn’t have a clip was definitely one my list for this years basket. As far as the candy, I have a hard time buying the big bags of fun size candy, jelly beans, etc. because I only have to fill one basket. (And, Broc and I sure don’t need all that extra candy laying around.) To solve that dilemma, I just buy a couple novelty candy items and call it good.
What did your kids get in their Easter baskets this year?

While I was in Utah over Spring Break my mom and I made a stop at Seagull Book and I couldn’t help but pick up a few new books to add to our Easter Book Collection. I always try to buy a couple new holiday themed books each holiday in order to slowly build up our home library. I am a big believer in having a home filled with LOTS of books!

One of my favorite things about shopping at Seagull Book is their awesome prices! I was able to get all four books for less than $15.00!
We have added these all into our reading rotation the past couple weeks and Titan has enjoyed all of them. I will admit the the My First Story of the First Easter is a little more serious and not the first one Titan reaches for, but I feel it is important that he learns the real reason behind Easter and that it’s not just all about eggs, candy and a white bunny. 🙂 So, we’ve been reading that one on Sunday’s during quiet time in the afternoons or before bed.

As far as the other books are concerned, Titan really liked that the Curious George book came with a set of stickers that he can use to create his own picture and story with.
…and I liked that it was a cute story with some educational value to it. I feel like that book was definitely well worth the $2.99 I paid for it! 🙂

Another fun one has definitely been Easter Egg Hunt because of the pop outs. Of course, after the first time we read it Titan said: “Mom, this book is kind of silly because it’s only fun the first time. After that, you know where the pop outs are.” – Funny though, that hasn’t stopped him from wanting to read it again each and every night since. 🙂

We also have like the Clifford book, I mean you can’t go wrong with a classic like Clifford, but it doesn’t have any extra’s beyond the story – so I don’t think it’s been AS exciting for Titan. Still happy I grabbed it though.

Overall I would say my trip was a success! Love when I can find some good deals on books!
