almost two years ago i was at byu’s education week with my sister and during a presentation i was having a really hard time reading the information projected up on the super size screen, so i leaned over to my sister and said “wow! they really need to focus the slide on that screen. no one can read that. i can’t believe they aren’t fixing it.” in a rather irritated way.
her reply… “the screen is fine?”
come to find out, it wasn’t the screen, nope! it was my eyes! when i put on my sister’s glasses i was able to see it crystal clear. so glad i didn’t raise my hand to put up a fuss about the “blurry” screen that “everyone” was having a hard time seeing.
after this incident i was told by many people that being pregnant can mess around with your vision and that everything would probably be fine again after i had my son, as at the time i was 7 months pregnant. well my time being pregnant came and went and so did many other of my son’s milestones, and finally a couple weeks ago i went and got my eyes checked. i’m a total procrastinator.
come to find out, yes, pregnancy had worsened my vision but it was not the sole cause. shoot! i really do have some vision impairments in my left eye. just the left eye. my right eye is perfectly fine. the good news is that my headaches and the redness i always get in my eyes (i thought from allergies) should disappear since my left eye won’t be stressing out so much? we shall see.
so now i am a certified eye glass wearing, contact carrying, four eyes. the funny thing is, i only need a contact for my left eye and my glasses only have an Rx in the left lens. i don’t know why, but that makes me laugh. doctor said the plus side is that my contact prescription will last twice as long since i only need one! i love it!
personally i’ve always liked people in glasses. so i wasn’t too devastated when i heard the news. especially since the pair i fell in love with even has some “bling” on the side. tres chic! funny story: i probably tried on 40 pairs and ended up selecting the first pair i picked up and tried on. always go with your gut. lesson learned.
my husband is now also a certified four eyes as well. you might see him out and about sporting his new fashion statement. although his are mostly for at night and school. good times for everyone here it seems!
