mother’s day 2010. what a day it was! it started with us waking up to a very alert and active little man jumping around in his crib. broc then suggested we go next door (his grandparents live next door – it’s a pretty sweet set up being next door neighbors) and he’d cook breakfast. breakfast burrito’s to be exact. he asked me to gather some of the ingredients from our fridge and meet him over there.

upon arriving next door i was locked out and had my arms full of supplies, specifically after i had asked broc to leave the door unlocked, but as i was in my state of being slightly ticked – the garage door opened and there was broc and the little man beside a shiny new bike all for me!!!
as i’ve mentioned before broc and i have made a commitment to be more active and to be outside more and because of this we had discussed getting me a bike but i thought we were getting it down the road and after we moved to colorado. i was very surprised indeed to see that he had gotten me a bike for mother’s day!!!
after a delicious breakfast and after titan went down for his afternoon nap we took our bikes out for a ride. (don’t worry other people were home during his nap – we didn’t leave the little man alone in the house). i had not been on a bike since i was maybe ten, so it took a little bit for me to get used to it again and to realize i don’t have to stay on the sidewalk or go slow down hills. ha ha.
after our bike ride it was back to to the house to make rolls for a family dinner, a quick trip to sonic for a route 44 diet coke at happy hour, and a walk around the block with the little man after his nap.
then it was time for family. my family was all over to celebrate mother’s day and to be around for when my little brother called home (he is currently serving an lds mission in california). it was so fun to hear his voice and to begin making plans for when he returns home in september! that is going to get here so fast! the trost family trip to california after he returns home is officially under way. you know it’s official in my family when the itineraries are busted out! we don’t mess around when it comes to our vacations! it was exciting to plan it all with him and hear how well he is doing.
after the call and some time with my family, it was time to travel next door where broc’s family was all gathered for the regularly scheduled bb-q they have on mother’s day each year. after that dinner we put the little man down for bed and took our bikes out again! it turned out to be a rather active day for us. i’m 100% in love with biking. i can’t wait to better at it and more accustomed to it.
in the end, it was a fabulous mother’s day filled with lots of family, and lots of hugs and cuddles from my little man! those were the best part of the day! before the little man went to bed he cuddled in my arms for close to fifteen minutes, all curled up like a newborn. so sweet! what a perfect end to mother’s day! that and a bike ride with my husband!
i love you broc and titan!
taking the new bike out for a spin. we ended up having to take this one back for a larger one yesterday, but regardless – love it!
the rolls rising. getting ready for the oven.
these smelled so delicious in and out of the oven. yum yum! it was our first time ever using the frozen rhode’s roll dough from costco to actually make rolls (have only used it for other recipes), but i’d say it was a definite success! easy peasy & they were a hit!
