the other day i’m shopping, skillfully navigating the racks and racks of clothing. when i spot it. a cardigan that i fall immediately in love with. i am a firm believer in love at first sight when it comes to my shopping purchases, it’s how i shop. i’m a very intense shopper, what can i say?!

back to the target. i see the cardigan, i scan for my size, and end up failing to find one all neatly folded with an “s” on it’s tag. do i give up? oh no! i check the mannequin wearing the same cardigan to disclose what size it is wearing. yep, there it is, an “s”. now this following part is why i’m posting this.

upon discovering the mannequin is wearing my size, i simply take the cardigan off the mannequin. this is much to the horror of three other ladies standing within viewing distance of me and the mannequin. all of whom gave me looks of pure shock & disgust. really? is it that weird to take an item off a mannequin or display? i can’t be the only person who does this or has done this? am i?

my philosophy is, if it’s got a price tag, it’s fair game. i mean the whole reason for a display is to make an item more appeaing for purchase, the end goal is that the product is purchased, right? right. so, of course, i’m going to take it from a display if it’s the only one in my size.

their looks didn’t stop me from my goal, don’t you worry, i simply thought “wow! these women really would have had a field day if they were in old navy when i asked a store associate to completely undress one of their full body mannequins for an item it was wearing.” (what can i say? it was the last one in the store), grabbed the cardigan and headed to the check out line already dreaming up what i would pair it with in my closet. they can gawk and stare all they want, but you’ll rarely hear me complaining i can’t find something in my size.

so, i’m throwing it out there, who else has done this? who else has ever taken something from a mannequin? or is it really just me? wait, just had an idea, the next time i play the “i’ve never game” i’m throwing this one in the circle. i seriously can’t be the only person.

side note: am attending the casual blogger conference today and tomorrow! squeal! went to the girl’s night out last night and it was well worth it. a massage, a manicure, a custom lip gloss, a new travel pillow, a fun flower pin made with my own hands, some memory book supplies, and lots of chit chat with fellow bloggers – it was a very fun night! can’t wait to tell you all the juicy details of the conference come monday! again, i really need to step out of my comfort zone more, i have a blast when i do. was a little terrified of walking into a room full of people i do not even remotely know and making small talk. don’t know why i stress myself out so much about situations like that now days – i use to love that kind of thing. it’s that chicken part of me that wants to live life safely & controlled recently. am taking steps to totally dissipate that from my life though. chicken be gone! happy friday!
