i think the only year i’ve actually had them all wrapped prior to 48 hours before christmas was the first year we got married and i wrapped them all so we had something to go under our first tree. of course since that year we haven’t had a tree (of our own) for various reasons & so i’ve gone back to my lackadaisical way.
i must say though that in between the shopping, wrapping, lights and all things christmas, so far my favorite part of this season has been watching the little man take it all in. he’s added ornaments, stocking, snowman, deck the halls, jingle bells & many other christmasy terms to his vocabulary as of late. nothing is getting past him. in fact, at his haircut yesterday he was asked if santa was coming and he said “uh huh, santa bring presents!”. so the fun begins! i love how excited he gets when he sees christmas lights. i love how he asks for a “chrismas show”. i love how he already reveres the man, also known as “santa clause, ho ho ho”. for some reason ti guy always has to say “ho ho ho” and hold his belly after he says santa’s name. too cute!
it is so so true that having young children around makes the holidays so much more fun. i have a feeling when i look back this will be one of my most favorite years, the year the little man started to believe in the magic of christmas. i pray it’s a magic he always believes in, not just in december but all year round, even after he grows up because we all know the magic of christmas is really just belief, love, service, family & our savior all mixed together.everything else is just icing on the cake.
well, i’m signing off for today. it’s a movie marathon day around here, oh and a prep day for christmas camp tomorrow. what’s christmas camp? don’t worry i’ll be on tomorrow to share.until then, enjoy some peppermint ice cream and a cup of hot chocolate wherever you are, since you know peppermint ice cream (the dryer’s kind) is only the best ice cream ever! get it while you can! 🙂
ps. i just have to say, if you are looking for a fabulous place to get your toddler/child’s haircut. take them to mckell at cookie cutters in draper! she cut my little man’s hair his first time and we’ve mostly been going to her ever since (i say mostly because the little man’s aunt has cut his hair as well). any way, mckell is incredible with kids and so cute herself. i purposely plan my son’s haircuts around our trips to utah so we can keep going to her. 🙂
