Still playing catch up! I realize it’s almost Christmas but I still have so much to document from the rest of my mom’s vacation with us to Titan’s birthday and even Thanksgiving. For those of you who are sticking around and still reading, thank you! I promise by the end of December I’ll actually be posting about things that happen in December!! π
Any way, onto this post…
While my mom was with us in October we decided to venture out to the Garden of the Gods for some exercise and to take in the gorgeous scenery.
The view from the scenic overlook.
While we were there this time we decided to watch the short video presentation that they offer about how the red rocks developed here in Colorado Springs and how they became known as the Garden of the Gods. The movie was $5 per adult and kids under 5 were FREE! (I’ll admit, the fact that Titan was turning 5 in a few weeks may or may not have prompted me to want to see it during this visit vs. in the future. May as well get the free ticket, right?) π
The video was actually pretty entertaining and we all walked away learning something. For example, I had no idea that Katharine Lee Bates wrote America the Beautiful while sitting at the top of Pikes Peak looking down at the Colorado Springs valley. And, Titan liked learning about the new species of dinosaur, Theiphytalia Kerri, that was discovered in the Garden of the Gods.
The Kissing Camels. This is Titan’s favorite rock formation and he likes to look for it every time we go. He was a great little tour guide this time around.
Horrible lighting, I know. But that smile! Love this little man!
My boys posing for a picture for Grandma. Gotta love the little man’s pose! LOL
Speaking of poses…not quite sure where the idea for this one came from! π
Our view as we walked back to the Visitors Center.
After our hiking we decided to eat lunch at the
Cafe at the Garden. Titan was VERY happy with the Fanta drink he talked Grandma into getting for him. A bottle just makes the drink that much more fun and tasty, right? At the Cafe the food was just ok, but really, it was the view that is what makes eating there worth it.
I mean, it doesn’t get any more picturesque than that! (And we couldn’t have asked for better weather!)
