Back on May 17th, Broc graduated from medical school at Rocky Vista University in Parker, CO. This was definitely an exciting event for our little family! Truthfully, the four years went by fairly fast (especially the last two years) but we are all definitely glad to have them over with and to be beginning our next adventure. 🙂
I am SO proud of Broc and all that he has accomplished so far. Not many people can serve a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, get married, have a kid, get into and then graduate from the Marriott Business School at BYU, be commissioned a Captain in the United States Air Force AND then also get into and graduate from medical school all before they turn 30!
Yes, I’m totally singing his praises here but it’s definitely deserved for an occasion like this one!
Now onto the pictures…
The night before graduation the school hosted a dinner at a nearby Marriott for all the graduates. It was so fun to get dressed up and to be able to spend the night with our friends we came to know and love over the four years.
We definitely got lucky to be surrounded by so many great people. These two guys, Jon and Jonathan (and their amazing wives) became really good friends of ours. We wish we could have all ended up in the same area but no luck. 🙁
Happy we survived the four years! 🙂
Yes, I took photos of the food.
1) Loved the detail of how this salad was arranged and…

2) How fun is the chocolate with the school logo on it?

The next morning we had to be up super early (like out the door by 6:00 am early) to drive up to Denver for the actual graduation. This little man was such a trooper waiting with me all morning. We were leaving straight from the graduation to go the airport and so we only wanted to take one car to the graduation. That meant we had to tag along with Broc who had to be there early and wait outside until they would start letting family and friends into the lobby.

This is outside of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House where the graduation was held. Love the design and architectural details found this area of Denver.

RVU Mission

“Rocky Vista University provides quality healthcare education while inspiring students to serve with compassion, integrity and excellence.”

Titan once again waiting with me. Thank heavens for things like Leap Pads. 🙂

Before the ceremony started they had a presentation going that cycled through all the students showing where they were going after medical school. It was really fun to see where everyone ended up!

And…here is Broc receiving his diploma after he was hooded! Such an amazing moment!!!

Not only did Broc graduate from Rocky Vista University at the ceremony but he was also commissioned as a Captain in the Air Force. (During Medical School he was a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force.)

Quick picture as Broc was walking back to change out of his uniform and into his graduation gown.

Time for photo’s with the family…

Trying to get Titan to take a good photo was nearly impossible at this point. After sitting quietly and patiently through a two hour ceremony (one of the only kids we noticed doing it without the help of ANY electronics) he was a little wired! LOL
So proud of him though for sitting through the whole ceremony and being respectful of the event that was happening.

Broc with his Grandma & Grandpa Ross

Broc with his Grandma and Grandpa Parker

Love these two boys! Never a dull moment with them…

And, finally, Titan playing around with Broc’s accessories as we headed to the airport to fly to Disney World! Who knows, maybe in 20-25 years, Titan will have a photo of him wearing his own cap! 🙂
A couple of random things we want to remember about the day, after the graduation we ate at the Cheesecake Factory with Broc’s parents and both sets of his grandparents. And, the Commencement Address during the ceremony was delivered by Michael O. Leavitt, former Governor of Utah.
Also, random fact that we learned at the graduation dinner, less than 1% of adults in the world hold a doctoral degree. Crazy to think Broc is now part of that 1%. So proud of him and so grateful for everything he does to provide for and take care of our family!

Educents Explorers Guide: 50 Activities To Do With Your Kids This Summer!

I’ve got so many things to post about here on the site. 🙂 LOTS has been happening around the Parker home the past couple months.

Real fast though, I wanted to hop on quick today and tell you all about a free & fun activity guide that I came across on the Educents site. With baby girl on her way I’ve been keeping an eye out for educational activities that I can do with the little man the rest of this month and next during nap times and our one on one time. Of course, since we will be working around a newborn’s schedule, things that are easy to do and implement are definitely key!

I was excited when I came across the Educents Explorer’s Guide & Summer Activities Checklist (found under the “30 Days of Freebies” tab) because it basically maps everything out for you. Not only have they compiled 50 different boredom busting activities and put them all into one list, but they have also provided a free printable checklist you can fill out with your kid(s) and made it a challenge to see how many activities your little explorer can complete by Labor Day! Send in your checklist to the Educents site by Labor Day and your child will receive an Explorers Reward!

We have been working with Titan on goal setting lately and on following through until the end on projects and so I feel like this activity guide will dove tail nicely with those goals. I look forward to sitting down with him this weekend to choose which of the activities he wants to do out of the 50! You can choose from things like learning about butterflies and moths, making Cloud Dough, building a fort, making your own wind chimes, and more!

Make sure to leave a comment if you decide to do this with your kids! We’d love to follow along with everyone and see what you all are working on as well!

This year, Valentine’s Day started out just like last year did. Titan talked so much about the “hearts on the wall” that we knew we just had to do it again this year!

Apparently he really liked the hearts with with things we love about him written on them again…

…but wasn’t super impressed by the trail of word hearts from his room to the table. He told me he preferred the balloons “like last year”. Live and learn I guess! 😉

Luckily, between the heart messages and his new Sorcerer Mickey for his Infinity Game (along with some new power discs) he soon forgot about this disappointment over the path leading to all of it. 😉

The rest of the day was spent working, doing homework, etc. until Broc got home. Once Broc got home, he whipped up a batch of his yummy Fettucine Alfredo, and we enjoyed that with some Chocolate Fondue, Garlic Bread, and even Sparkling Cider!

My handsome chef!

We have had this fondue pot for a couple years now and have never used it. So, I figured Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to bust it out. We had a lot of fun dipping in marshmallows & fruit!

Now that is my kind of dinner! 🙂 A yummy pasta and some good garlic bread is right up my ally these days!

Titan was a little concerned about the “mess” the fondue was making. Once he got over that though, the dinner was a success for him as well!

My two handsome men! LOVE these two! So lucky to have both of them in my life!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
