Want to know one of the easiest ways to save money? It’s simple…plan ahead!

I was thinking about all the ways we save money here at our house and realized the biggest way we save money is by simply planning ahead.

I plan ahead by looking for coupons on what we are in need of at the grocery store. I plan ahead every time we eat out by looking for a coupon before we go & then only going to a place we can find a coupon for. I plan ahead by seeing if H&M has sent me a deal in my email before I head to their store…you get the idea.

Sure, it takes a couple extra minutes sometimes but when you start to see how much you can save, those extra minutes are totally worth it. Here are a couple examples:

Broc told Titan the other day that we could go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner one night. Before we headed out I did a quick check for coupons. I found a coupon for a free kids meals with entree purchase & a coupon for a free spicy chicken sandwich with the purchase of another spicy chicken sandwich. So, we took both coupons. I paid for my meal & titan’s kids meal and Broc did a separate transaction with this meal of the two sandwiches. All in all, we got Titan’s kid’s meal and Broc’s second sandwich for FREE! Our bill was cut in half & we were all more than full when we left.

Second example, I was thinking of making a quick trip to Plato’s Closet one day. I hopped online to see if they were running any deals or promotions and found that if I went Saturday, instead of Friday when I was thinking about going, they were having a $1 Clearance Sale. So, I went Saturday instead and scored some really cute shirts for buck a piece. Had I gone the day before they would have each been over $5!

Third example, a week or so ago I saw that Chick-Fil-A was having a free breakfast week this week and that you could sign up for a free breakfast item from them. I signed both of us up and we both were able to enjoy a FREE beakfast this morning. Broc got a spicy chicken biscuit and I enjoyed a fruit parfait. Oh, and we also got a free Simply Orange Juice with a coupon we had from the Chick-Fil-A Calendar. Yep, our meal was 100% free and all because we took a minute or two to sign up for the promotion a week or so ago. Love it! (In fact, we didn’t even have to go in to get it, Broc just grabbed it through the drive through and brought it home).

See, it really is just all about planning ahead! So, the next time your wishing you had a little more wiggle room in your budget, just start planning ahead. 🙂
